I met her in the fall of 1995, shortly after I moved to Virginia Beach. When
she found out that I had a ministry on Sexual Abuse and Prevention she told
me that she knew from personal experience how desperately the Church needs
this type of ministry. Recently she shared her testimony with me, and, with
her permission, I've put it in this month's newsletter. To preserve
her privacy, I'll call her Janie.
It happened 24 years ago, Janie was a new Christian nearing the end of
a pregnancy. She was watching the 700 Club and was in an attitude of prayer
with Pat Robertson as he prayed on TV. Her mother was outside working on
a bicycle.
A stranger came up and asked her mother for a drink of water. She had
seen him talking with some of the neighbors and assumed that he lived in
the neighborhood. After gaining entranced to the house, he raped Janie
and her mother.
Seeking spiritual support, Janie shared her trauma with her pastor and
his wife. Their counsel? "Surely this happened because of sin in your
life."
Sin in her life? What garbage!! This is stupidity gone to rot!! This is
almost criminal!! It's . . . it's . . . it's toxic, it's
satanic, it's toxic and satanic!!! That's the only way to describe
it. No, I'm not saying that this pastor and his wife are demon possessed,
but I am saying that they yielded to the wrong spirit. At the risk of sounding
judgmental, they have no business pastoring a church.
I've said it before and I'm going to say it again, but this
time I'm going to shout it, "CHURCH, QUIT DOING SATAN'S
WORK FOR HIM!!!"
How the heart of God must break at such religious garbage. Jesus confronted
this destructive mind set in John 9:1-3, "Now as Jesus passed by,
He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, 'Rabbi,
who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?' Jesus
answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works
of God should be revealed in him.'"
Shortly after receiving this satanic counsel God lead Janie to Rock Church.
Their God began His work of healing in her. It took years for Janie to
work through the anger she had towards God for allowing the assault to
happen. To this day she sleeps with a loaded gun by her bed. Tragically,
her mother has never recovered; she still lives with constant anxiety attacks.
Those who know me are going to find this hard to believe, but I'm
speechless. I make my living with words, but I cannot find the words to
express the frustration I have in my heart right now. I can only ask that
you pray. Pray that God will purge these destructive, Satanic lies from
His Church. Pray that through the power of His Spirit God will free His
people through His liberating truth, as promised in John 8:32 & 34. "And
you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Therefore
if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
