| Her life and family had seemingly been destroyed in one swift moment. She
had made a devastating discovery; her husband was sexually molesting their
children. For the sake of her children's safety she had to take swift
action, with the help of a local Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence Center, she
moved into a women's shelter with her kids.
In need of spiritual support, she called her pastor from the safety of
the shelter. She listened to his words in shocked disbelief; "Your
husband has been in my study all afternoon, weeping before the Lord. God
has delivered him. Move back home with your children where you belong."
A storm of conflict arose in her heart. What was she to do? On one hand
she didn't want to be disobedient to God, but on the other hand her
children's safety was her greatest priority. In her confusion, she
sought a "second opinion" from another pastor that she knew,
a personal friend of mine.
His response to her broken inquiry was obviously the mind of Christ. "Tell
your pastor that you will move home immediately with your children on one
condition, that he allow your husband to live in his home for the three
months. If his family is still safe at the end of the three month span,
then he can move back in with you and the kids."
Her stunned pastor's response was instantaneous, "There is no
way I am going to expose my wife and children to that type of risk!"
With a clear conscious she responded, "And I won't expose my
children to that risk either!"
